Job Title: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

African Diaspora Corporation (ADC) is a growing partnership of 15 visionary members aiming to catalyze diaspora and foreign investments into Africa. As a parent organization, ADC oversees both our charitable initiatives, such as the Nigerian Diaspora Forum International (NDFI), and our business ventures, including NDF Consulting LTD. Our medium- term goal is to extend these ventures to other African countries. Our mission is to foster growth, philanthropy, and development across Africa, with a focus on empowering local communities, supporting businesses, and bridging international relations to boost economic prosperity.

Position Summary:
ADC seeks an experienced and dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide strategic leadership and oversee the entire operations of ADC. Based in Nigeria, the COO will report to the ADC Board and work closely with the country directors to oversee the implementation of both business and charitable initiatives. This role requires an individual who is entrepreneurial, growth-focused, and capable of overseeing both the charitable and business operations, executing strategic plans, and ensuring alignment across all countries as the organization scales.

The COO will be responsible for business exploration, strategy development, and execution across our subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Business Development:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to expand ADC’s footprint across Africa, both in charity and business operations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue business opportunities that align with ADC’s mission, including partnerships, joint ventures, and investment opportunities.
  • Lead the exploration of new markets to establish subsidiaries of ADC, with a strong focus on expanding business and charity initiatives beyond Nigeria.
  • Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to establish growth objectives and build consensus on priorities and strategic direction.

2. Operational Oversight & Execution:

  • Oversee daily operations across ADC’s subsidiaries, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and alignment with corporate goals.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee policies, systems, and procedures that promote ADC’s culture, values, and vision.
  • Ensure operational excellence and performance monitoring, including managing and reviewing key metrics to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-country expansion activities, including charity establishment and setting up new business units.

3. Team Leadership & Organizational Development:

  • Provide effective leadership and support to ADC country directors, charity managers, and business leaders across Africa.
  • Foster a positive and growth-oriented culture, with a focus on learning, collaboration, and transparency.
  • Mentor and develop the team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities to build a cohesive leadership team.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain as approved by the board, top talents to ensure ADC has the right resources in place to achieve its growth goals.

4. Stakeholder Management & Relationship Building:

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including investors, donors, government entities, community leaders, and corporate partners.
  • Represent ADC to external audiences, effectively communicating our mission and achievements to potential partners and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the key liaison between the parent organization and the individual country subsidiaries, ensuring alignment and promoting effective communication.

5. Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the organization’s budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to ensure efficient use of resources and drive sustainable growth.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide insights into improving profitability, reducing costs, and optimizing investments.
  • Oversee fundraising initiatives for charity operations, ensuring funds are effectively used to meet programmatic goals.

6. Governance & Compliance:

  • Ensure all activities comply with the laws and regulations of the respective countries.
  • Develop internal controls and organizational procedures that comply with corporate governance standards and best practices.

Key Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, International Development, or a related field. An advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master’s in International Relations) is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, including senior management roles, preferably in multi-national, non-profit, or investment-related organizations.
  • Proven Experience in Africa: Demonstrated knowledge of business and charity operations within Africa, especially in developing strategic partnerships and expanding operations across multiple countries.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Experience with setting up new ventures, growing businesses, or leading startup initiatives.
  • Strong People Leader: Proven experience in managing diverse teams, developing talent, and leading cross-functional collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with investors, donors, government officials, and community leaders.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate a vision and inspire stakeholders.
